About the product
This comprehensive set of worksheets covers the whole multiple hazard section of the GGB4 unit on the AQA (B) syllabus.
The lesson objective is:
By the end of this lesson I will be able to list the potential hazards in Los Angeles and explain the interrelationships between them
The worksheets begin by asking the students what they remember a hazard being. Following on from this the students are asked to discuss and brainstorm the possible hazards they think LA might face.
Some hazards in an urban environment can be linked. One may contribute to another. From the hazards the students have listed they must then create a causation link. They have to investigate the different types of relationships between the hazards e.g. a complex linear relationship.
The students then develop their knowledge of the 4 types of relationships and look at one in detail:
A relationship in detail – drought, fire, heavy rain and flooding in LA
They then have to investigate the Mediterranean type of climate and the effects that this has in LA.
The students complete this lesson (s) by answering some past paper questions which come with mark schemes. The text book Advanced Geography is an ideal companion to this product, though not essential.
