About the product

The beginning of the lesson is vital in setting the tone for the rest of the lesson.  The climate for learning in class can be greatly developed by insisting on certain routines.  One routine that works very well for us is the "Starter word cards" activities.

On entering the class the students collect their own word cards and immediately get to work.  Whatever activity is involved on the cards needs no input from the teacher after the initial explanation.  By insisting upon this routine your pupils will be working within 10 seconds of entering the classroom.  This gives you valuable time to distribute resources and prepare, especially during the change over of lessons when time is tight.

The activities are designed to last no longer than 5 minutes in most cases. 

It is also possible to use these word cards as a recap or plenary activity.

Explanation of these word cards

The wordcards are split up so that they have a key term detached from their meaning.  The students can work individually or in pairs to match up the key words with each meaning.  There are 13 dominoes in total.
